patience? I've got it in droves ;)

I'm still a huge fan of the VMUGs, they're EXTREEEMELY useful for folks getting together to learn about vmware, and the supporting ecosystem. Very cool stuff. I think the VMUGs are a very narrow point in the post though. Biggest takeaway should be GET INVOLVED! DO SOMETHING! I think it's important for new (and some of the folks that have been a round for a while) to realize and remember.

I have not looked into a seperate VMUG. I do know some others people that have talked about a VUG (Virtualization Users Group).

In a big picture perspective of User Groups, the VMUG program is still a relatively new and evolving organization. That being said, in our industry things change fast and some things never get the opportunity to be around a long time.

The VMUG program has had massive growth the last few years (along with VMware). Have faith in the VMUG program and a little more patience as it continues to grow and evolve.

@ Rod.

Good points! I should have flushed out that thought. The point was by it's the very nature of "VMUG stands for VMWARE User Group" it is tied into vmware as part of that community of use, but, it is controlled.

Have you tried to stand up your own VMUG?

The content and running is community driven, but the governance is certainly in the hands of vmware corp. This IS different from other User Groups, (such as LUGs) where the governance is 100% in the hands of it's members. So even in it's VMUGs, we are users of the framework that vmware provides. Gotta reiterate here, that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just the way it is :)

Thanks!
