One of the great things about using wordpress to build out a website is the ability to group posts around categories, and allow users to subscribe to the categories that interest them. I’ve had a few people write me and say that they like reading about asterisk, and not virtualization. I’m sure VMware, which syndicates my virtualization posts, doesn’t want to see my posts on my new plate chiller. I do have some friends that would like to hear about that though, or when I post something else that is brewing related (I haven’t posted there as much as I’d like recently btw, sry guys). My linux posts get syndicated in a couple of different directions as well. Long story short, I’ve helped make it easy for people, and other websites, to get the information they really want. Listen, subscribe to the categories that you like, and leave the rest alone. I can only think of a handful of demented people that would be interested in EVERYTHING that I write.
This does two things:
- it keeps what readers will consider clutter out of their feeds.
- it stops people from posting comedy gold like this.
Great post Duncan, ignore the grue. You could consider adding some more structured categories for your posts though. Let us know before you make any changes, I’m sure a lot of us will need to update our feeds.
