Who is this Theron?
Theron has an almost unhealthy interest in the rapidly changing technologies around virtualization and has helped start the first non vendor specific virtualization users group in the universe. He is also a notorious and active member of the Iowa VMUG.
Theron currently wears many hats at LightEdge, managing and optimizing their VMware hosted multi tenant infrastructure, as well as helping clients deploy private vmware solutions.
Theron has worked to design, redesign and implement multiple new VMware infrastructures in a handful of companies and not companies, supporting external and internal based applications. He has put together Disaster Recovery solutions around VMware and Xen to minimize the downtime of critical business systems and applications, designed to take into account the needs of the enterprise, as well as the individual developer.
He has managed, planned, tested and implemented multiple successful migrations within a mix of VMware ESX 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 environments, while changing storage platforms in the background, all while minimizing impact to the end user. He has also designed and implemented multiple “single-sign-on” environments, utilizing Active Directory to manage disparate user accounts on windows, Redhat Linux, and Solaris systems.
Theron has also successfully designed and deployed a Remote Desktop Solution designed to allow access to secure systems remotely, from points around the globe, using a custom Citrix Presentation Server configuration, and a VMware ESX backend.
Theron is a strong Free software advocate, and has been designing, developing, deploying, teaching, and administering *nix server systems for almost 10 years. He is an active member of his local LUG, and the Iowa HomeBrewers Union.
In all of his free time Theron is the sole proprietor of a small Xen based hosting company focused on providing cheap, fast, safe, and private VMs for developers local to the Des Moines metro, and a few odd individuals who have stumbled across his project from around the world. It can be found at XenKibbutz.com.
Theron prefers to talk about hop utilization over vmotion, but will field questions about both.
Theron doesn’t usually write about himself in the third person.
About the Site
Conrey.org was started as a way for me to share information, photos, and stories with my friends and family while I was in overseas. It was a geocities site then and I had just begun dabbling with Linux and Free software. Today the site is proudly hosted on XenKibbutz.com using wordpress, and a theme provided by Benoît «LeBen» Burgener created for My Tapestry.
A lot has changed since this site first came online, yet the intent for this site remains the same. Thanks for stopping by.
